Spring Summer 2026 Fashion Wish List

Cloud Dancer - that's it, the color of the 2026. Whenever I hear the name my mind conjures up the chorus of an old Commodores song called Fancy Dancer. Yeah, I'm Commodores years-old. And whereas Fancy Dancer was rich and deliciously funky, Cloud Dancer is basically an embellished moniker for the color white.

When you want to be fashionably safe, white is the best neutral when it comes to compatibility with every shade on the color wheel. A white tee will dress down an outfit while a crisp white shirt can elevate the most basic ensemble. An all-white outfit is always so fresh and so clean-clean, but never safe. It's like your white shirt, dress, pants or skirt is begging for a stain within the first 10 minutes of wear. I always wonder how long it's going to take before my white item is marred by a smudge, speck, or drop of liquid that would've never found me had I been wearing a dark color. I'm possibly my clumsiest self when wearing all-white. Maybe it's being overly cautious that fulfills the prophesy or maybe it's just inevitable. Either way, all-white is high-risk activity only for the brave.

In any case, I LOVE a crisp or flowy white item. Once upon a time I had an entire rack of white shirts; different shades, different cuts; various patterns, sleeve-lengths, fabrics, and necklines. I was obsessed with the versatility a white top could add to whatever bottoms I had in my closet. And while I've been clearing out my wardrobe over the past few years, the amount of white tops have decreased - on purpose - for the sake of getting out of that "safe" rut. Do my eyes still glaze over when I see a white item with some intricate detail that makes it different from every other white item I own? This is the justification for adding it to my cart, although I've become better at letting it marinate there for weeks before transferring it from the cart to my favorites list.
