TEMU Home - The Living Room
Updated: Jul 30
Welcome to my Temu Home series! Nine months ago, I made an irrational - but much needed change - by moving out of my apartment (for nearly a decade) to a larger space. Moving wasn't on my roster of goals for 2025, but when the lease renewal notice showed up asking for a crazy amount of money I instantly knew it was time to reassess. So, I did it. I gave it about 24 hours of consideration, while doing a random market rate check online, and decided to sort, trash, and gather the last seven years of my life and move.
The amount of furniture I decided to take was minimal; two bar stools, 2 chairs, and a chaise lounge, while the remainder was either given away, donated or junked. The bulk of my move included clothing - sooo much clothing, home decor, electronics and standard items like bedding and kitchenware. The idea was to start fresh with whatever new space I had to work with. Between online searches and viewing properties, I spent a good amount of time on Pinterest for inspiration. Oddly enough, during my apartment hunt, I anticipated the standard white walls to plan my home decor palette around, but white walls isn't what I ended up with. I knew I wanted the space to be a lush, green, indoor oasis. Green tones, soft whites, and shades of brown oak.
I'd begun adding items to my shopping carts on Temu and Amazon the moment I made the decision to relocate. The vision was clear. After the physical, mental, and emotional process of finding an apartment in a dream location - within a short amount of time - AND quickly going through the bureaucratic process, I got the keys to my new place and unlocked the door with cleaning supplies in tow. It was at that moment I realized the walls weren't white or any shade of white. They were a soft gray which I somehow did not recall when initially viewing the space. I was so excited about the layout, price, square footage, and a much needed laundry room, my brain totally blanked out the gray walls. How? I can't even explain. I just know when I opened the door with my bucket and mop and focused on every detail as if for the 1st time, the grayness hit me hard. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I envisioned and I wondered if all the items sitting in my shopping carts online were still a possibility.
It took me me a few weeks after moving in to get my decor mojo back. There were some major events happening at my job offline in the final quarter amidst all of this which left me depleted most days. Thank goodness I brought the chaise lounge with me because I slept on it, surrounded by opened and unopened boxes, for more weeks than I originally planned. And while my bed was the first piece of furniture I got around to buying, I'm kicking off this series with the living room because I'm honestly surprised by how well it all came together - gray walls and all - with items mostly from Temu. Turns out the gray walls provide a hint of coziness an all-white background would have lacked. Serendipity won the day!
Check out some of the affordable home decor items I picked out from Temu to bring my living room vision to life. Surprisingly, a lot of the pieces I ordered were ABOVE expectations. Stay tuned for the YouTube video review to be added at the end of this post in the coming weeks.

The One that Almost Got Away!
Initially purchased this rug for my closet room and it just didn't work. Before donating, I tried it in the living room and VOILA - it brought EVERYTHING together! If only it was in better quality.

Discontinued; similar design here (56x80 inch.)
